Welcome

My practice focuses on problems confronted by patients, caregivers and healthcare providers. As a solo practitioner, I am able to pay attention to details that matter. Moreover, I can provide a realistic assessment of the challenges my clients face. Before designing a plan of action, I carefully assess my clients' concerns and educate them about laws and ethics relevant to their problems.

Areas of Practice

I handle civil litigation, arbitrations, administrative appeals, drafting and negotiating contracts, and medical aspects of estate planning and elder law.

Retainer Agreements

In most cases, a flat fee is negotiated according to the type of work required and the estimated time. Some fees are governed by law such as contingency fees for medical malpractice plaintiffs (B&P Code § 6146) and fees for representing MediCare beneficiaries. (42 CFR § 405.910(f)(1) for Parts A,B; 42 CFR §422.562(d) for MediCare Advantage.) My hourly rates range from $70 to $250 depending on the type of work.

To ensure that all clients receive high quality services, I limit the number of litigation cases and share all contingency matters with co-counsel.

Consultations

Office consultations are $35 per half hour. Once an appointment has been scheduled, clients may forward relevant records in advance of the meeting by fax or email. The maximum charge for initial consultation is $100 including house-calls for bedridden clients within Ventura County.

This web site, started January 2007, is a work in progress. It deals with issues often encountered in my practice and, hopefully, it may answer some of your questions. I will do my best to keep it current and relevant. Questions related to content, sent by email, are sincerely appreciated and will be answered.
